When a group of medical professionals attending a conference at the Kentucky International Convention Center wanted to elevate their visit to Louisville, KY, they reached out to Michaelis Events with one goal in mind: to create an unforgettable, high-end Kentucky-inspired dinner and bourbon experience.
They didn’t want just another conference dinner—they wanted something intimate, elegant, and rooted in the authentic charm of the Bluegrass State. With 40 distinguished guests on the list, and only a few months to plan, our team got to work crafting what would become A Doctor’s Dinner to remember.
Sourcing the Perfect Setting
We started by presenting a curated list of venues within walking distance or a short drive from the convention center. The goal was convenience without compromising ambiance. The client ultimately selected the iconic Kentucky Peerless Distillery, a hidden gem in downtown Louisville that offers the perfect blend of Southern sophistication and Kentucky tradition.
Once the venue was secured, our team took over planning every detail—from logistics and décor to menu design and timeline flow.
A Warm Kentucky Welcome
Guests arrived at Peerless around 7:30 PM and were immediately welcomed with a premium open bar featuring the distillery’s award-winning bourbon and rye selections. The cocktail hour set the tone for the evening: refined, relaxed, and quintessentially Kentucky.
The venue was elegantly styled to reflect a modern take on Southern charm, blending rich wood textures with warm lighting and subtle event floral and décor touches to highlight the space’s industrial heritage.

The dinner, presented as a beautifully styled buffet, featured some of Kentucky’s most iconic and beloved dishes, elevated for a discerning palate:
